Bang!

01.30.09 (4:35 pm)   [edit]

It was 7:40 in the morning when the trains screech braked to stop at the Bangalore city station here. I had gotten up probably an hour before that and had wrapped my early morning duties in the washroom on train itself. Called up sister who was waiting for me to come home and leave for the Ranganna’s Gruha Pravesh ceremony.

I came directly home and told sister, I’ll show how every morning I get up at 8:30Am and still manage to be in office at sharp 9. T’was 9:15 when left home on the bike and to follow was a 16KM bumpy ride in worse of traffic of Bangalore. I had been to Ranganna’s place once before, when it was under construction and so had only a vague idea of the route leading there. Most of it was covered without much hitch as I kept getting clues at every few kilometers confirming that I was on the right tract and direction. Though in the last few meters we missed a cross and so had gone a little ahead of the turn, but soon I discovered that the place is looking too unfamiliar to have visited even once before so immediately turned back and hit the right road.

The whole ceremony was a happy occasion for everyone a whole bunch of relatives some whom I knew very well, some whom I dint at all and many others who I seemed to recognize, have talked to before etc but just couldn’t remind myself who they were. Lots of hellos and how are you?’s were exchanged and while many were happy to know that I have finished my engineering studies and am working as a Business Development Manager there were some who looked surprised and intrigued by the same as well. Good tummy tight lunch followed by sit-chit-shat session the whole thing was wrapped up. While coming back I had to act a Chauffer to the priest who overlooked the ceremony and drop him off on my way home. This priest also happens to be a teacher to more than 2 generations in our family. He has tutored almost a dozen of them including my father for many years of primary and high schools which makes them still entitles them to be addresses as’Sir’ by all of them. It indeed is a funny sight to see your peers including parents calling someone by that title and even being weirdly scared of him as well. Though people have different opinions of them he seemed to be a knowledgeable man for the pre-independence generation which he hails from. I dint digg more deeper into it.

Came back with eyes full to brink with sleep but somehow pulled myself awake till 12 in the night. A visit to grand parents a sutta with cousin and a light dinner I was done for the day. Logged onto internet and checked mails just to peak my sleepiness before I was off officially.
